Founder & CEO
Born in a respectable, well-educated business family, our founder, Sushmeetha Bubna has overcome many personal challenges in her life. Very early in life, she was diagnosed with progressive conditions that led to vision loss in one eye by the tender age of 10 and complete blindness by 24. These setbacks, however, did not dim her indomitable spirit and ambitions.
Sushmeetha powered on to complete her graduation in commerce, followed by Diploma in Administrative Management. She then joined her family business – a technology-driven company in 1996. Post losing her eyesight in 1997, It was her drive to learn computers and the lack of institutes for people like her, that inspired her to help others with disabilities.
In 2000, Sushmeetha founded a non-profit called Voice Vision focusing on empowering persons with visual impairment. Over the years, she has trained hundreds of students in computers, soft skills, and other corporate proficiencies, helping them create employment opportunities, financial independence, and a life with dignity and inclusion.
To ensure her students and others enjoyed well-rounded lives, she created a dedicated matrimonial platform where persons with disabilities can find their soulmates. She also initiated the Entrepreneurial Idea Award for persons with visual impairment, enabling them to start their own businesses and provide employment to people with disability.
FAIYDA is her latest brainchild, a non-profit online marketplace where varied artists with a disability can sell their hand-made creations – from edibles and costume jewellery to bespoke Kashmiri embroidery – directly to discerning customers and gain financial freedom. FAIYDA stands for ” Financial Ability for I, You and All “.
